Cotswold Pied-à-Terre
“Working with Farra was such a pleasure. They transformed our house from a beautiful building into a home that makes me smile every time I enter another room. From the outset, the design process was measured and structured and easy to follow, allowing for collaboration, creativity and tweaks along the way.”
Private Client
The client brief was for the Arts & Crafts and Art Nouveau to permeate throughout every inch of their 3-bedroom wing of a Cotswolds period hall. Key was establishing a decorative thread that tied rooms together and allowed each to feel atmospheric without falling into pastiche.
Given the client’s considerable private collection of antiques, this project was as much about curation as it was creation. Reorienting existing furniture in the drawing room and reception hall along with careful investment in several new pieces allowed these spaces to take on clearer roles, especially for entertaining. The kitchen was pared back strategically, affording an infusion of character and identity whilst avoiding unnecessary wholesale changes.
Decorative concepts and schemes flowed from the client’s background in botanicals and preference for colours plucked from nature. Drawing on this kind of palette and playing with organic patterns enabled us to create spaces that were striking and vibrant yet also balanced. We also sympathetically reinstated period detailing, such as traditional bevelled wall panelling and original flagstones, ensuring that the project celebrated both the client's specific vision and the rich decorative heritage of the hall.

“I loved how they embraced our particular vision and period whilst refining ideas, colours and textures to create something that’s more than we could have hoped to achieve. Every conversation was fun and I really felt they cared about the project and getting it just right.”
